Using cc_import + interface_library/shared_library to link libcef.lib causes
libcef.dll to be copied as a transitive dependency, leading to issues with
complex Bazel configs. Instead, we explicitly link libcef.lib in the binary
target (cc_binary + linkopts/additional_linker_inputs) and explicitly copy
libcef.dll to the target directory.
- Add `declare_[cc|objc]_library` macros to configure common `copts`
and `local_defines` (where supported) on `[cc|objc]_library`
targets. This limits the scope of defines to the specific target
without inheritance by dependent targets.
- `objc_library` does not currently support `local_defines` so we
use `copts` instead of MacOS.
- Use `**kwargs` to pass all other arguments to the actual cc
target declaration.
- Headers that are included by .rc files need to be supplied to
`declare_exe` via the `resources_deps` attribute (passed as the `deps
attribute to `compile_rc`). The headers must be part of a cc_library
target via either the `hdrs` or `srcs` attribute.
- File paths for CEF resources are prefixed with "external/<repo>"
when CEF is loaded as an external repo. Update `copy_filegroups` to
work with these paths.
Unqualified target labels don't resolve correctly when the
disribution is loaded as an external repo. Mapping, if necessary,
can be performed using the `repo_mapping` parameter to
http_archive() or local_repository().
Add support for building the CEF binary distribution using Bazel
and the default platform toolchain. Tested to work for Windows
x64, MacOS ARM64 and x64 (cross-compile from ARM64), and
Linux x64. Windows x86 (cross-compile from x64) is known to
be broken, see https://github.com/bazelbuild/bazel/issues/22164.
Includes minor changes to tests directory structure to meet
Bazel build requirements.
- Windows: SDK version 10.0.20348.0 is now required.
- MacOS: SDK version 12.3 (Xcode 13.3) is now required.
- Legacy swiftshader binaries (`swiftshader/*` on Win/Linux and
`libswiftshader_*.dylib` on MacOS) have been removed (see issue #3176).
Chrome currently uses chrome_100_percent.pak, chrome_200_percent.pak,
resources.pak and locales/<locale>.pak files. This change adds CEF
resources to those existing pak files and updates the Alloy runtime to
use them instead of the previous CEF-specific pak files (cef.pak,
cef_100_percent.pak, cef_200_percent.pak, cef_extensions.pak,
devtools_resources.pak) which are no longer generated.
The addition of Chrome resources results in an ~16% (~4.1MB) increase in total
combined pak file size vs. the previous CEF-specific pak files. While a size
increase is not ideal for the Alloy runtime, it seems preferable to the
alternative of distributing separate (and partially duplicated) pak files for
each runtime, which would have added ~9.8MB to the total binary distribution
size.
Requires Xcode 12.2 and the MacOS 11.0 SDK. To generate ARM64 builds set
the CEF_ENABLE_ARM64=1 environment variable and replace all usage of
--x64-build with --arm64-build in script command-line arguments.
This change adds the d3dcompiler_47.dll version that was included with Windows
SDK 10.0.17134. The newer version of this file included with Windows SDK
10.0.17763 adds a dependency on the Universal C Runtime (api-ms-win-crt-*.dll)
which might not be installed on Windows 7 (requires KB2999226).
This adds *.pak, locales/*.pak , chrome-sandbox, libGLESv2.so, libEGL.so and
swiftshader/*.so to the list of binaries that will be loaded from the libcef.so
directory instead of the executable directory by default.
- Move all tests from the top-level directory to tests/.
- Move files shared by cefclient and unittests to tests/shared/.
- Add a fused (single header/source file) version of gtest in
tests/gtest/ with associated CMake configuration.
- Test-only headers are now exposed in include/test/. Unit test
targets must define UNIT_TEST in order to access them.
- Replace usage of USING_CEF_SHARED with WRAPPING_CEF_SHARED for
clarity (only the libcef_dll_wrapper target should define it).
- Remove the RENAME_DIRECTORY CMake macro which is no longer used.
- Remove C++11 usage from unittests sources for compatibility with
the binary distribution configuration.
- Windows: Fix build errors due to chrome_elf.dll and imm32.lib
missing from the CMake configuration.
- Simplify usage of OnBeforePluginLoad (issue #2015)
- Switch crash reporting from crashpad to breakpad on Windows and OS X.
Adds a new chrome_elf.dll dependency on Windows (issue #1995)
- Remove CefTextfield::GetPlaceholderTextColor() method which is no
longer supported by Chromium.
- Load CEF configuration using `find_package(CEF)`.
- Use per-target configuration via a new SET_EXECUTABLE_TARGET_PROPERTIES
macro instead of setting global CMAKE_* variables.
- Support building projects more easily with an external binary
distribution directory.
- Improve related documentation.
- Delete include/cef_runnable.h (issue #1336).
- Build the cef_unittests target using all Chromium headers. Add a
USING_CHROMIUM_INCLUDES define and libcef_dll_wrapper_unittests
target to support this. This change avoids compile errors due to
the divergence of CEF and Chromium base/ header implementations.
The libcef_dll_wrapper sources must now compile successfully with
both CEF and Chromium base/ headers (issue #1632).
- The onbeforeunload message specified via JavaScript is no longer
passed to the client (see http://crbug.com/587940).
- Implement CefRequestHandler::OnBeforeBrowse using NavigationThrottle
instead of ResourceThrottle (see http://crbug.com/537634). The CefRequest
object passed to OnBeforeBrowse will no longer have an associated request
identifier.
- Mac: Remove additional helper apps which are no longer required (see
http://crbug.com/520680)
- Remove the UR_FLAG_REPORT_RAW_HEADERS flag which is no longer supported (see
http://crbug.com/517114)
- Remove the CefBrowserSettings.java parameter. Java is an NPAPI plugin and
NPAPI plugins are no longer supported (see http://crbug.com/470301#c11)
- Add CefFormatUrlForSecurityDisplay function in cef_parser.h
- Fix crash when passing `--disable-extensions` command-line flag (issue #1721)
- Linux: Fix NSS handler loading (issue #1727)
