This change adds a new CefSettings.root_cache_path value that must be either
equal to or a parent directory of all CefSettings.cache_path and
CefRequestContextSettings.cache_path values. The sandbox may block read/write
access from the NetworkService to directories that do not meet this requirement.
To test: Run cefclient with a combination of the following flags:
--cache-path=c:\temp\cache
Cache data should be persisted to the specified directory.
--request-context-per-browser
A separate numbered cache directory should be created underneath the
cache-path directory for each new browser instance.
--enable-network-service --disable-extensions
Same tests, but with NetworkService enabled.
Known issues:
- When NetworkService is enabled a C:\temp\cache\cache\Cache directory is
created (should be C:\temp\cache\Cache).
A CefBrowserHostImpl is created using a CefRequestContextImpl that may have a
CefRequestContextHandler. Multiple CefRequestContextImpl may share the same
underlying CefBrowserContext which owns a CefResourceContext. IO-thread
callbacks from Chromium are often associated with a CefResourceContext and the
target frame is identified using render_process_id/render_frame_id routing IDs.
This change forwards frame create/delete notifications from CefBrowserHostImpl
(or CefMimeHandlerViewGuestDelegate) to CefResourceContext so that it can
properly resolve the association from routing ID to Handler when queried from
CefPluginServiceFilter::IsPluginAvailable.
To test: Verify that all ceftests pass with NetworkService disabled.
This change removes cookie and request handler functionality that will not
supported by the NetworkService. Specifically, it is no longer possible to
change cookie storage locations at runime by returning a different
CefCookieManager for an already initialized CefRequestContext. After this change
you will need to use a separate CefRequestContext when creating a CefBrowser if
you require separate cookie storage.
The following methods have been removed:
- CefCookieManager::CreateManager
- CefCookieManager::GetBlockingManager
- CefCookieManager::SetStoragePath
- CefRequestContextHandler::GetCookieManager
The following methods have been renamed:
- CefRequestContext::GetDefaultCookieManager to GetCookieManager.
This change substantially simplifies the network implementation in CEF because
it is no longer necessary to proxy objects that are normally owned by Chromium.
Chromium patches that are no longer necessary will be removed as a follow-up
commit.
To test: Verify that `ceftests --gtest_filter=-PluginTest.*` pass with
NetworkService disabled. Plugin tests will be fixed in a follow-up commit.
This change adds an --enable-network-service command-line flag to run with
NetworkService enabled.
To test: Run `cefclient --enable-network-service --disable-extensions`. The
application should start, load a website and exit without crashing.
Network-related handlers (for cookies, schemes, requests, etc) and extensions
are not expected to work yet.
There should be no functional change when running without the NetworkService
enabled.
- The |category| value for all TRACE calls from CEF client applications is now
"cef.client" due to https://crrev.com/331266377d.
- The |with_menu_marker| parameter to CreateMenuButton has been removed due to
https://crrev.com/7f7e382118.
- Add CefRequestContext::LoadExtension, CefExtension, CefExtensionHandler and
related methods/interfaces.
- Add chrome://extensions-support that lists supported Chrome APIs.
- Add CefBrowserHost::SetAutoResizeEnabled and CefDisplayHandler::OnAutoResize
to support browser resize based on preferred web contents size.
- views: Add support for custom CefMenuButton popups.
- cefclient: Run with `--load-extension=set_page_color` command-line flag for
an extension loading example. Add `--use-views` on Windows and Linux for an
even better example.
- Simplify usage of OnBeforePluginLoad (issue #2015)
- Switch crash reporting from crashpad to breakpad on Windows and OS X.
Adds a new chrome_elf.dll dependency on Windows (issue #1995)
- Remove CefTextfield::GetPlaceholderTextColor() method which is no
longer supported by Chromium.
- Remove |accept_lang| parameter from CefJSDialogHandler::OnJSDialog
and CefFormatUrlForSecurityDisplay (see https://crbug.com/336973#c36).
- Remove remaining NPAPI-related code including functions from
cef_web_plugin.h (see https://crbug.com/493212#c55).
- Mac: 10.7+ deployment target is now required for client applications.
- Mac: Remove CefBrowserHost::SetWindowVisibility (issue #1375). No
replacement is required for windowed rendering. Use WasHidden for
off-screen rendering.
- Windows: Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 is now required when building
CEF/Chromium.
- Delete include/cef_runnable.h (issue #1336).
- Build the cef_unittests target using all Chromium headers. Add a
USING_CHROMIUM_INCLUDES define and libcef_dll_wrapper_unittests
target to support this. This change avoids compile errors due to
the divergence of CEF and Chromium base/ header implementations.
The libcef_dll_wrapper sources must now compile successfully with
both CEF and Chromium base/ headers (issue #1632).
- The onbeforeunload message specified via JavaScript is no longer
passed to the client (see http://crbug.com/587940).
- Persist modified user preferences including per-host zoom settings when a
cache_path value is specified and persist_user_preferences is set to true
via CefSettings or CefRequestContextSettings.
- Avoid the need to duplicate files from chrome/ by having CefBrowserContext
extend Chrome's Profile class.
- Default plugin loading policy can be specified using the new
`--plugin-policy=[allow|block|detect]` command-line flag.
- Move CefRequestHandler::OnBeforePluginLoad to
CefRequestContextHandler and add a new policy argument that
supports different actions (allow, block, detect, disable) on a
per-plugin-instance basis.
- Add CefContextMenuHandler::RunContextMenu for providing a custom
context menu implementation.
- Add CefResourceBundleHandler::GetDataResourceForScale for
returning scaled resources (issue #1272).
- Add CefResourceBundle for retrieving resources from the resource
bundle (*.pak) files loaded by CEF during startup or via the
CefResourceBundleHandler.
- Linux: Fix Debug build IO access warning with CefGetMimeType.
- cef_unittests: Move the refcounting implementation from TestHandler
to subclasses in order to support interface inheritance from
subclasses.
- Simplify and document the relationship between the various context object types. See browser_context.h for a description of the new relationships.
- cefclient: Add `request-context-per-browser` command-line flag for testing multiple CefRequestContext instances.
- cefclient: Add a CefURLRequest example.
